Create filesystem within: sudo mkfs.ext3 /usr/local/diskimage-guest.ext3 Mkfs will tell you that this is no block device. Since you already know that (do you?) you can tell it to create the filesystem nevertheless.

the response of question about bloc device in french version of ubuntu are not translated
The response can't "o" (for Oui) but Y (for yes).

The programs show this message :

"Procéder malgré tout ? (y pour oui, n pour non)"

but if you type "y" the program stop !
to proceed, you have to enter "o"

so I think the message have to be :

"Procéder malgré tout ? (O pour oui, N pour non)"
