lost keyboard and mouse at removing removing old packages during upgrade from 9.04

Binary package hint: landscape-client

near the end of the upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10, lost both the keyboard and mouse at the point where I was requested to confirm the removal of old packages. Should be noted that both the keyboard and usb mouse were attached thru a Belkin 'flip' kvm switch. removing the kvm switch and attaching directly both keyboard and mouse to usb ports did not help. connecting a ps/2 style keyboard to ps/2 port did not help. Hard reset seems to have recovered ok as its up and running.
