[feisty] kvm doesn't run kubuntu live cd

Binary package hint: kvm

Whenever I try running the Kubuntu Live CD virtualized in kvm it crashes.
I'm running Feisty on a Intel Core Duo with support for virtualization (Samsung Laptop)
Disabling acpi in the VM does not help.

Confirmed on Core Duo T2300.

According to the kvm mailing list, this is because Intel VT doesn't have realmode virtualization, and the bootsplash is what's triggering the exception.

Confirmed with : model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz
Trying to boot the ubuntu desktop i386 CD.

I have (nearly) the same problem on an amd64 machine. I do not get a crash but the vm is hanging exactly at the point where the boot loader should be displayed. Running the image with qemu works, running not ubuntu images (e.g knoppix) works, too.
