Bug Description
Binary package hint: kubuntu-live
Whenever I try to boot into the graphical desktop using the Kubuntu Live CD I get corrupt blocky graphics after X windows starts. This also corrupts the console terminal in a similar way, so I can't switch to the console to find out what is going wrong. It doesn't matter whether I use the normal or safe graphics option.
My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 6600 (plain).
I got the same issue with the Dapper live CD using the normal graphics option, but the safe graphics option worked with Dapper. The Edgy Live CD checksums are all ok.
I upgraded my installation from Kubuntu Dapper to Edgy over the net anyway and everything is working fine using the binary Nvidia drivers. It's as if the Edgy CD still uses the nv driver instead of the vesa driver with the safe graphics option.
Other people reported the problem here:

While I have Edgy installed fine, the Live CD is normally useful as a recovery CD too. Since the issue corrupts the console as well, I can't use the Live CD at all for this purpose.

"if I boot 6.0.10 desktop install CD, Gnome starts and gives me a total ripped up image with green stripes instead of a desktop. This also happens in secure graphics mode, wich should normaly force VESA. If I edit the xorg.conf manually and change from "nv" to "vesa" everything works, and gnome starts up with it`s full beauty :) As far as I see, the xforcevesa bootoption dosen`t affect the xorg.conf"
So we have two issues here:
* First we have a problem with some Geforce Cards.
* Vesa is not used in the secure graphics mode (at least for these cards).
