Bug Description

I suggest the use of Rekonq http://rekonq.sourceforge.net/ in place of Arora as Kubuntu default web browser, because it is better integrated with KDE and flash seems to work better with Rekonq.

Another reason to use Rekonq is the language support, Rekonq is translated to other languages than English (I supuse it uses KDE translation system), while Arora is just in English.

Nothing would need to be done with the arora package, so invalidating its task.

[11:42] <Riddell> rekonq is nice but the upstream says it's not ready for use and has big re-writes coming so we go with what's ready

And what does Rekonq have that Konqueror doesn't have? I vote for Konqueror as the default web browser in Karmic, I like Konqueror and it integrates really good.

Konquerer is not a really good browser and I never used it. I install Firefox directly after installing Kubuntu. I propose to make a MS style browser ballot and let the user decide what (s)he wants.

Jonathan: waaaaaaaah

Vistaus: we need to transition to webkit so that the web will unbreak. want kde to become beos?

7penselen: it is already possible to change the default browser. ubuntu has a fundamental rule for its derivatives: one default app per function, so new users aren't overwhelmed. It's a good rule, unfortunately it means that KDE's default browser will be a bit basic until Karmic+1

rekonq 0.3 is really good, should be kubuntu default now.

I'm using rekonq 0.3.0 right now and it's very fast, stable, and functional. Konqueror is just not up to the task of rendering some more modern pages. Rekonq is a native KDE app with a great rendering engine, and it does just what it should - it renders web pages.
