Bug Description

Hi, with Intrepid, my multimedia keys on my MS Wireless Entertainment Keyboard were configured by default such that play/pause/next/previous worked in whatever media programs (amarok, vlc) I was running.

After upgrading to Jaunty, there are no longer any default key bindings for these keys. I can configure the bindings for Amarokin Global Keyboard Shortcuts from System Settings/Keyboard & Mouse, but this will obviously only take effect for Amarok.

It seems to me that sensible global defaults would be to assign the relevant function to the keys, and pass it through to the relevant program like Intrepid, but allow the customisation where necessary.

We never ever assigned special media keys to anything in KDE 4 and in KDE 3 it was app specific assignment. So whatever made this work in 8.10, it was for sure no default Kubuntu magic, so I am closing this report. However I'd like to mention that better media key support is on our TODO.

Changed in kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu):
