Problem with "Scrivania" vs "Desktop" in italian version

Bug Description

I've installed Gutsy 7.10 Italian language from scratch, from DVD.

In place of "Desktop" folder now I have "Scrivania", wonderful, more italian then ever ;-)
The problem is that there are programs (XSANE, KTORRENT, K3B, ...) where when you want to open/save a file you see a nice button "Desktop", but it does not work anymore.

Is there a plan to fix it?
If yes, how it is expected that the fix will be done? By patching each application or .... ?

In another system I've upgraded from Feisty. The problem is not present there since "Desktop" folder is preserved.
I mean, upgrading from Faisty and installing Gutsy from scratch gives two sensibly different results.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please ensure that the package xdg-user-dirs is installed on both systems? You could check via 'dpkg -l xdg-user-dirs'. Thanks in advance.

In the one installed from scratch the situaiton is:

leo@pccasa:~$ sudo dpkg -l xdg-user-dirs
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-f/Unpacked/Failed-cfg/Half-inst/t-aWait/T-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Nome Versione Descrizione
ii xdg-user-dirs 0.9-0ubuntu2 tool to manage well known user directories

I don't understand the above output, but I'm sure you do!

I've looked at xdg-user-dirs using Synaptic, and it clearly tells to me that it's installed.

The one updated from faisty is, unfortunately gone. The owner of that PC reinstalled everything from scratch.
But even if I can' report whether the package is installed or not, I can tell you that on that PC there were TWO directories present, Desktop and Scrivania. The Desktop button of K3B (and others) does not go to Scrivania folder, it goes to Desktop folder.

Thank you for your attention

Confirm this bug in Kubuntu Hardy, when I want open or save a file in Kate, on the left of dialog box there is label "Desktop" but there isn't in the system a folder ~/Desktop....there is a folder ~/Scrivania
