KDE will not show media on the deskop that was inserted before KDE init

Bug Description

Kubuntu Gutsy's KDE 3.5.8 is not able to properly show media on the desktop (CDs, thumb drivers, etc.) that were mounted before the system was started.

An example: You put a CD into the CD drive, then boot Kubuntu. The CD won't show on the desktop (but will be shown in media:/ ). Reinserting the CD is a simple shortcut, but in order to bring a consistent user experience, the link to the media should be placed on the desktop, too.

This works for me in Intrepid with the new device notification system from KDE4.
