Bug Description

Kubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
Lenovo T510

Before a recent update, I was able to use the nVidia X Server Settings to configure my monitors. The "Display and Monitor" configuration has never worked for me.

After said update, the ability configure my monitors stopped working. In order to toggle between using only my laptop display or using my laptop display + external monitor, I need to log out (which of course refreshes the xserver...).

The following is the only system log I could find that seemed to apply to this. I repeated this a few times and watched the timestamps change on logs in /var/log, and only syslog and Xorg.0.log changed. Syslog only had entries about the vpnagent, so I'm guessing that's irrelevant. Here's the Xorg log:

Xorg.0.log:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1285169/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
