ktorrent locks audio device

Over the past days it happened to me several times that audio all of a sudden would stop working. It seems ktorrent is causing this.

This is what mplayer said when I tried to play a video in that situation:

This is the output of lsof that I got (after killing knotify4 and kmixer, which didn't help):

I don't know how to reproduce it unfortunately.

I had same problem in Ubuntu 8.10.
At Kubuntu 9.04 it is happening much often to me.

Killing ktorrent helps in your case, as well?

Yes, everything gets back to normal. Output of lsof shows sound card as
unlocked.

Coming from another distro, but...

Confirming same issue on Gentoo x86, snd_intel8x0 driver. Sound device locks up, killing ktorrent brings it back to life. This problem appears to be an upstream issue.

Exactly the same on 9.10. I was having that problem with mplayer, and when I find this I just close ktorrent and playback started to work.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 372527and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
