Bug Description

Binary package hint: krusader

Krusader has a bult-in bookmarks manager, that clearly depends on Konqueror (when Konqueror is installed, it works, when it is not (and all its dependecies are), it does not - upon clicking on Bookmark manager nothing happens). However, Konqueror is not even in suggested packages for Krusader. I think it even maybe should be a dependency because user expects buttons in programs to work - even better, upon clicking the button, a message prompting to install Konqueror would be great, but I guess this should rather go to Krusader developers.

Also, for various protocols a user is likely to use with krusader (for example, samba), kdebase-kio-plugins should be installed - they are suggested, but should not they be installed by default(i.e. be a dependency)? Because without them, Krusader is somewhat crippled.
(edit:typo)
I use GNOME, as is evident because KDE users will most likely not notice this.

I use Gnome too and because of this bug (didn't know about the dependencies) I dropped Krusader :( some time ago...

I have experienced difficulties with Krusader in gnome as well. I could not unrar any of the archive files, and I had to drop it as well .

I have the same problem using Dapper Drake. I can't get to the Bookmark manager.
I'ld hate to have to drop Krusader because of this as I really like it.
My regular desktop is gnome, because ubuntu uses it. At home I use KDE on debian etch, but haven't tried Krusader on it.
I hope someon can solve this.

I found out that installing Konqueror takes care of the bookmark manager problem. Therefore konqueror is actually a dependency of krusader.

I filed a bug in Krusader bug tracking system and they know about it, but it will not get fixed until Krusader 2 for KDE4... maybe temporarily the dependency to Konqueror should be set in Ubuntu...

Trying to test install of Krusader via Synaptic on Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4+. Synaptic tells me:

krusader:
Depends: libkonq4 (>=4:3.5.8-1) but it is not installable.

That's because the KDE3 version of libkonq has been replaced with the KDE4 version. Krusader has been upgraded to a KDE4 version. How is it now?

It is installable now. However, Synaptic only provides a package which has apparently built from some svn version.

This is because the KDE4 version has not been released yet. I've tested it out and it seems reasonably functional.

Since it's installable and recommends are now installed by default, I'm going to mark this fixed. If there are problems with the new version, please file new bugs.
