Bug Description
First official knetworkmanager release is out.
As it is the first official release, there is no changelog provided.
By the way, here is a part of the mail we received from Timo,
knetworkmanager upstream:
Valentine did a awesome job on improving the KWallet integration in
order to delay accessing KWallet until it is really required. He also
wrote a patch to avoid flickering of the tray icon and yet another one
to keep network objects in sync.
For the update scenario I have taken care that users will be able to use
their networks they have already stored in knetworkmanagerrc.
On the very first run, the new version of KNetworkManager will prompt
for the KWallet passphrase. On all subsequent runs it will only access
KWallet if actually connects to an encrypted network.
I have removed all SuSE specific bits: The networkstatus stuff is now
gone and dial-up can now be enabled/disabled using configure.
We have also fixed a lot of other small bugs.
I tested it widely here, and it works like a charm.
Good point is that the code cleaning of Suse specifics allows us to remove the bunch of patches we had to maintain with each release.
The package is now easier to maintain.
Another interesting point is that it will hopefully resolve kwallet issues, like for example bug #56366
