Bug Description

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

When i start KDE, either thru boot or resume from suspend, knetworkmanager most of the time asks for the wpa password of my default access point after waiting for a while. At the same time, I get a message from kwallet that an application is misbehaving trying to access the kwallet. This seems to be a bug in knetworkmanager. Running dapper with all updates up to today (14-aug-2006).

This should be resolved with latest svn version.
I have a package ready for this but it requires to be approved as UVF Exception before upload.
Hopefully, edgy will have this one.

OK, what's a UVF Exception, and how to get it, because this behavior is irritating like hell. I want this update in dapper and I do not prefer to compile it myself!

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UpstreamVersionFreeze for info on UVF.

Good news is that UVF exception was approved (see bug 57031) and updated knetworkmanager was uploaded into Edgy and will be published on the archive in couple of hours.

Good news indeed. Any idea how to get it into Dapper?

That won't probably happen since it requires a backport and isn't a security issue.
Edgy will be out quite soon, so as we cannot backport every application resolving a bug, you may (sorry for this) have to wait a bit, unless someone does the backport and submit it...
The package is now available in edgy for a few hours.

still a couple of people (myself and danimo) getting this bug.

Are we sure it was fixed upstream?

Well, since I'm using a blank password for kwallet access, this is gone. Not ideal, but workable until edgy arrives.

Can be resolved by a backport of the edgy version.
Imbrandon currently works on it

I'm using Edgy with latest updates and I still have this problem sometimes. I'm using a blank password with kwallet.

First stable version has been released yesterday.
This one is supposed to resolve that isue.
Actual version in the repos improves kwallet integration, but it looks like not perfect still...
I'm writing an uvf exception request and once in the repos, we'll be able to (I hope) close this bug
