Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-kde

Reproduction steps:

- click on the networkmanager system tray icon
- click on "connect to other network"
- click on any available previously configured wireless network, encypted or otherwise

Expected behaviour:
- GUI should display "connecting...connected" notifications and update icons
- network connection should be configured

Actual behaviour:
- config window closes, no further GUI feedback appears
- network connection is not configured
- 5 seconds after the config window closes, the following message appears in /var/log/syslog:

Aug 25 08:20:32 kenshin NetworkManager: <WARN> wait_for_connection_expired(): Connection (2) /org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/Connection/3 failed to activate (timeout): (0) Connection was not provided by any settings service

Hardware is an acer aspire 5610, network driver is iwl3945, which appears to be loaded successfully.

Further information: plugging into a wired ethernet connection works perfectly, with icon updates, notifications, and successfuly network connection.

I confirm the behaviour, same configuration (kernel, network-manager, network-manager-kde) :
- works fine when plugged to a wired network
- timeout for wifi :
NetworkManager: <WARN> wait_for_connection_expired(): Connection (2) /org/freedesktop/NetworkManagerSettings/Connection/0 failed to activate (timeout): (0) Connection was not provided by any settings service

it happens since network-manager / network-manager-kdelast update (~ 20/21 august 2008)

regards

Same problem here since installing Intrepid. With the new iwlagn module, that is (5300 model).

Killing dbus and manually configuring wpa_supplicant does the job. So it is a NetworkManager problem, I suppose.
