Bug Description

In Kubuntu 7.10, no problem. But in Kubuntu-KDE3 8.04, the static IP configuration does not work because it causes the lost of connectivity to LAN/Internet.
The LAN/Internet only works on DHCP mode.

Please could you describe the exact method you used to configure a static IP address.

KNetworkManager --> Manual configuration... --> eth0 --> Config the interface... --> Manual:
- IP: 192.168.1.101
- Mask: 255.255.255.0
x Enable when the computer start --> OK.

Rutes:
- IP: 192.168.1.1
- Dispositive: eth0

Apply --> OK.

And there are two bugs:

First bug:
- In "eth0 --> Config the interface", enable "Automatic configuration" instead of "Manual". Enable too "x Enable when the computer start", Press "OK", apply the changes and exit the app.
- Go to the app again, and choose "eth0 --> Config the interface". Look at this, there are unmarked the items "Automatic configuration" and "x Enable when the computer start".

Second bug:
- In "eth0 --> Config the interface", choose "Manual". Press OK, and apply the changes.
- Go to Routes: Look the IP. Exit the app.
- Go to the app again, and go to Routes: There is not any IP. But, if you now enter the IP and apply changes, this time the IP is saved. Try it.

I can confirm the behaviour exactly as described.

knetworkmanager 1:0.2.2-1ubuntu2
network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5

I have discovered one other aspect: after trying to assign a manual configuration to eth0 as described above, if you then disable and then re-enable the interface it comes up OK. I'm setting it to "Confirmed" and changing the package to "knetworkmanager" because "kdeadmin" is a metapackage. Thanks for reporting the bug, let's hope the boffins can fix it soon!

OK. But remember that the main bug is in the description:
"The static IP configuration does not work because it causes the lost of connectivity to LAN/Internet.
The LAN/Internet only works on DHCP mode."

Thank you too!
