Yes, the blacked out tool tips are reproducible every time I mouse over a menu item. See attached screenshot for an example. Note I have not yet defined my KMM data file. Also note that I am using a default Ubuntu driver for my ATI Radeon 9200 card.

I am also seeing this on 10.10 using the Ambience theme. Specifically, the tooltip background is black and the text is dark grey, making it unreadable. The text should be white as per the theme settings.

If you change the theme (and then change it back) whilst the program is running, the tooltips will work correctly again. Each fresh start of the program sees a return of the problem.

I have also seen this in other QT applications under Gnome (eg. Skype) so this bug might lie somewhere other than with KMyMoney. I just haven't been able to find the right bug.

All tooltips on Skype work fine for me. Only KMyMoney blacks out all its tooltips. I have not found any other software that has this problem on this platform.

From the KMyMoney KDE team:

KMyMoney does not explicitly handle tooltips (that is done by Qt) so the problem you pointed out looks to me like a Qt packaging/style/configuration issue. The tooltip works fine as far as I can see only the color combination is unfortunate :).

Bug #760640 has been opened to package qt-sdk. Hopefully, the Qt team can shed some light on this problem.
