kitty gives “ValueError: Failed to create GLFWwindow” under Sway

Bug Description

Running kitty with Xwayland and Sway installed gives:

It's apparently a recurrance of this prematurely closed upstream bug report:

Following the suggestions in that discussion, my user was already in the audio and video groups. I installed mesa-utils and ran glxgears, which shows animated gears. This further suggests that the underlying machinery is in place.
