[Hardy] Desktops 3-4 do not function when Standard Desktop Effects enabled in Kubuntu

When I enable the desktop Effects in Kubuntu Hardy Beta 3, Clicking on Desktop 3&4 does nothing, I can navigate to the desktop using Expo (Super+e), but the windows do not appear in the pager. I'm not able to drag windows to it either.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
