Bug Description

Install Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop,
Install Gimp
Install kicad and kicad-doc-en

Execute kicad,
Go to help/contents (Ctrl-H)

Then gimp appears.

Evince should be executed for the pdf files (It is installed since, this is a fresh install)

Note: I don't know if this bug corresponds to kicad, gimp or some lib related.

Found a possible solution to this on a related webpage. Open a command line and type

mimeopen -d <some .pdf document on your system>

Choose evince or your preferred pdf viewer as the default. Should reset the defaults, but recommend closing kicad and restarting. This worked for me on Ubuntu 13.10.

I installed latest version from bzr and the documentation also opened with gimp for me. After doing:

mimeopen -d <some .pdf document on your system>

and setting it to evince it opens with okular. I'm on ubuntu 14.04.

The only thing that helped me on Kubuntu 15.04 was removing aplication/pdf from gimp.desktop.
