Bug Description

Package: kgrubeditor

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

---

After installing the kgrubeditor (which its the qgrubeditor), the application doesn't start, giving the following message:

"findServiceByDesktopPath: kgrubeditor.desktop not found"

The workaround is the same as used on #185551.

"rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-igorgomes/ksycoca4"

Suggestion to change the post-script to perform such command.

Best,

Igor Gomes

I can confirm that kgrubeditor doesn't start when clicked on, but not for the same reason. For me it only starts when I add the prepend "gksudo" to the original command - it needs root privileges.

Btw, since version 0.8 kgrubeditor doesn't require to be run as root. Run it as a simple user and then kgrubeditor will ask for the password if any action requires root privileges.

Doesn't it start using 'kcmshell4 kgrubeditor'?

Executing the command

"rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-USERNAME/ksycoca4"

solved the problem for me, too - THANKS! In that directory is still the file "ksycoca4stamp". Should I also remove that to keep down on the clutter, or is that needed for something else?
