Bug Description

Binary package hint: kgraphviewer-kde4

I installed latest version of ubuntu (hardy heron), but kgraphviewer still display a plain blank screen. The package is included as part of the latest ubuntu OS. I feel inclusion of certain non-working packages without sufficient testing certainly doesn't attract much users for ubuntu. As a ubuntu user and a fan of open source community, I express my deep concern. Ubuntu developers please take a note of this issue.

When you say included as part of the OS, do you mean it was installed by default? Doesn't really seem that it should be.

Hi Yuriy,

Thank you for the response. Even though the package isn't installed
along with the OS, the package does appear in the synaptic manager, when
I enabled multi verse. I believe that all the packages that show in the
synaptic manager(without third-party option being enabled) are approved
and tested by the Ubuntu community and developers ( which means that
package actually works when installed). Even though the package is free
of any inherent security flaws, the basic functionality of the package
isn't working. These are my thoughts and opinions on the packages. Do
correct me if I am wrong.

- Ashok.

That is correct, I just thought you implied it was installed by default, which I think would be another bug.

Hi Yuriy,

Actually, I filed the bug at bugs.kde.org as u advised me last time. I
uploaded everything (sample file to run and debug trace) as requested by
the developer, but with no luck and the problem still isn't resolved in
its latest version (when I downloaded from svn trunk and tested). I know
that it's rude to pressurize developers since its a free software. But
since the package isn't working as this point, I don't understand why it
is still included as a part of ubuntu hardy heron. It's not enough to
file it as bug and let the developer take some months to apply a patch
for it ( which should be fine when it's a minor bug).
