Bug Description

I have Alt mapped to my caps lock key like so:

~/.xmodmaprc:
---
clear lock
clear control
clear mod1
clear mod2
clear mod3
clear mod4
clear mod5

keycode 66 = Alt_L
keycode 64 = Control_L
keycode 133 = Meta_L
keycode 108 = Control_R
keycode 135 = Meta_R
keycode 105 = Super_R

add control = Control_L Control_R
add mod1 = Alt_L
add mod2 = Meta_L Meta_R
add mod3 = Super_R
---
xev reports that when I press Caps Lock, the Alt_L event is being called.

However, when I hold Caps Lock and press Tab, the popup for switching windows does not appear as expected.

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Karmic's, Lucid's or Maverick's packages?
Thanks in advance
Fabio

Hi Fabio,

I'm not in a position where I can test this anytime soon, but I think I know what the problem was. I think gnome is looking for a particular modifier, not a specific key to be pressed. So if ALT_L doesn't have the modifier that gnome is looking for, the popup for switching windows won't appear.
