Bug Description

Binary package hint: kexec-tools

Upon installing kexec-tools, the needed 'crashkernel' kernel argument isn't added to the GRUB configuration, until a kernel is installed/removed. Likewise, when being uninstalled, the argument isn't removed until a kernel is installed/removed.

# apt-get install kexec-tools
[snip]
Setting up kexec-tools (20090000-2.0.0ubuntu5) ...
# grep crashkernel /boot/grub/menu.lst
# update-grub
[snip]
# grep crashkernel /boot/grub/menu.lst
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30-6-generic root=UUID=57c44c83-15f6-44df-ae3f-1638c8673e69 ro quiet splash crashkernel=384M-2G:64M@16M,2G-:128M@16M

When a developer wants to capture particular kernel state (eg oops/panic etc), this may step in the way.
