This happens when KDevelop is compiled without support for the KDE 4 Workspace libraries (package: kde-workspace-dev
). This is required for enabling the "Attach to process" dialog right now.

This would need fixing at the packaging level; we'd need to mark kde-workspace-dev as a dependency for kdevelop.

I've uploaded a package to ppa:santoscadenas/kdevelop with that build dependency to check if that solves the issue. I'll keep you posted.

The package kde-workspace-dev does not exist in vivid. I've tried adding to build dependencies plasma-workspace-dev, but it does not solve the issue, "Atttach to process" is still missing.

Hello, I'm using Kubuntu 15.04 and I suffer from the same issue. I would've recompiled KDevelop, but it's troublesome as I do not have much free time. I've tried your PPA (ppa:santoscadenas/kdevelop) and installed provided ver of KDevelop, but it didn't work. Could you please assign importance level? Time has passed since first report and no one is working on it.

Hi,

Any updates on this?

In ubuntu 15.10 this feature is also missing, any chances that it can be fixed for the next version?

Thanks.

For anyone seeking for a quick work-around:

We now provide a Linux AppImage which is super easy to run: https://www.kdevelop.org/download (this one should have the 'attach' feature).

Hello,

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 and I couldn't find any solution.

* Tried the distro's version (4:4.7.3-0ubuntu1) of KDevelop: The "attach" feature is missing.
* Tried the AppImage from https://download.kde.org/stable/kdevelop/5.1.0/bin/linux/KDevelop-5.1.0-x86_64.AppImage : The "attach" feature is missing there too.
* Tried building KDevelop in a (Ubuntu) Docker container: Build failed.

Are there any workarounds for attaching to a running process using KDevelop?

Thank you in advance for your help.
