Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdevelop-kde4

I just installed kdevelop-kde4 in my recently updated 9.04 ubuntu box.

Not all menus are populated in the new Kdevelop, making the program unusable.

When I run it I get:

$ kdevelop
<unknown program name>(6038)/ KDevelop::allocateRepository: picked duchain directory "/home/janpf/.kdevduchain/0"

I also tried to remove the ~/.kdevduchain and .kde/share/apps/kdev* directories, hoping to get a clean start. But the problem is still there.

The only new project option is "New from template", but most of the templates are missing, just a couple are there.

This is true then no files are open. If one open a file menu is populated and shown correctly.

There is two projects availible only.

Karmic koala: same problems.

More specifically, when opening Kdevelop specifically for Ruby development, no Ruby templates show up (only C++ templates).

Also, I tried hard to run any program in Ruby, to no effect (which means that either there is a bug or configuring the launch configuration is so unintuitional that it is unusable).

I'm seeing the same issue. Uninstall/re-installing kdevelop (& kdevelop-data), and clearing my user settings does nothing. I still only see the very few C++ templates. :\

Just reiterating that the problem is still there, in version 4:3.9.91-0ubuntu2 for jaunty

As "z" pointed out, many of the menus get populated as a file is opened, but still there seems to be missing many templates: like C++ from a Makefile, or import a project.

This renders the package mostly useless -- maybe it works if one is using one those few templates ...

I can confirm this on Karmic with KDE 4.3 also with packages from daniele domenichelli's ppa.
