[KDE 4] Ark does not support rar files

I don't know if it is a bug of ark-kde4 or because packages as unrar, unrar-free, etc. have not been compiled for kde4 yet... but for now I am unable to extract a rar file in KDE4.
Ok, I know many workarounds, but it is possible to get things easier?

I'll also confirm this. Ark is not currently able to either unrar or create rar archives. Archive Manager is able to open and create RAR archives.

Status set to confirmed and Importance to Wishlist, I suggest that you take a look to see if there's a package in the ubuntu repositories that can add rar support for Ark. Perhaps that it's already available. Most of tile, rar files needs additionnal package because it's a compression standard which is not very well documented.

This is a known upstream 4.0 ark limitation, unfortunately the ark maintainer couldn't finish rar support before feature freeze. This should be back in KDE 4.1

What a load. Wishlist? How in the heck is the inability to extract a file a wishlist? I don't have the ability to download the particular files in any other format. Ark is the default archiver. Rar is a fairly popular archive format. I understand that the maintainer is working for free as is the KDE team, I don't have a problem waiting, but don't appreciate the problem being minimized to wishlist.

lingenfr : Wishlist is the good status for a new feature. How fast that this functionality will get implemented does not depend on the Importance but since the importance is set, it will guarantee that it gets more visible, and if this new feature is accepted by core developers of ark, they can change the importance at anytime, but most probably that they will work on this rather than using the Importance button. If that feature is important to you, you can work to implement it or find people that will be able to take this job, but commenting about the importance won't help the feature being introduced and it adds comments in the bug report that does not help developers to fix the issue in that case.
