Bug Description

Version: 1.0 (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

As a user set up to have admin rights, clicking on "user management" on the
"advanced" tab brings up a dialogue asking for a password. Supplying the
correct password results in the dialogue disappearing but nothing else
happening.

In contrast, running the same command as indicated in the dialogue (kcmshell4
userconfig --lang en_GB) simply starts the user management tool without any
further questions.

This is a newly installed kubuntu 10.04 LTS system with two user accounts "X"
and "Y". "X" was the first to be set up, consequently has admin rights and for
this user clicking on the approriate icon brings up the user management tool.
This tool was also used to create the second account "Y" with admin rights
enabled.

Log in as "Y" and click the user management icon and the password dialogue will
open. Supply "Y"'s password, and the dialogue will close and that's it. Supply another
password and get an message stating password wrong.

That actually has to do with Y not being in the admin group, those not having root access, so kdesudo really should give sane output.

affects: userconfig (Ubuntu) → kdesudo (Ubuntu)

You are right, in fact Y is in group "adm" but not "admin" as shown by groups. So this bug affects both kdesudo (should give sane output) and useconfig (should put Y in correct group).

Probably related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/userconfig/+bug/497919 - this has been "Fix Committed" since 2010-01-09, but it seems not to have percolated into kubuntu 10.04 LTS.
