Kate responds slow on typing

Using kate to write c programs at first worked fine. But since recently kate responds slow on typing and seems to lag. After typing a character it takes some time before the character appears.

In fact it responds so slow to typing that I now use gedit without any problems.

I've also experienced this, but solved it by starting kate with -graphicssystem raster as arguments.
