I currently run about 100 filters and have never had an issue by running them automatically or manually (ctrl+j).

Can anyone else confirm this issue?

I have never seen crashes on filter (automatic or manual).
The problem noticed on manual filtering of many mails (a whole folder of several 100 Mo's) is that the computer gets very busy, so it takes a big while to filter, but then it works.

Using 6.10.

I have this problem with up-to-date Feisty. A fix has been released to KDE SVN, but I don't think it's made it to Kubuntu yet.

Actually, the fix solves data loss issues, but at least one user reports that they still get crashes.

Also, for what it's worth, here's my backtrace. The issue is in KMFolder::find(), called from KMHeaders::applyFiltersOnMsg().

According to the upstream report this should be fixed in KMail 1.9.9 (Hardy)
