Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdepim

Hello,

if i choose a public holiday calendar, korganizer reacts very slow (some long seconds for switching Month, but also closing the Window with public holiday calendar-Settings takes few seconds).

Installing a public holiday calendar from here: http://www.erweiterungen.de/kalender/ ("Deutsche Feiertage 2009-2013) as normal calendarfile, works fine. No lags.

$ korganizer --version
Qt: 4.7.0
KDE: 4.5.1 (KDE 4.5.1)
KOrganizer: 4.4.5

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Release: 10.04

Its an upgrade from Kubuntu 9.10 to 10.04.

This behavior confirm some more people: http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/korganizer-sehr-traege-nach-upgrade-auf-kde-4/

I have exactly the same problem: korganizer very slow after upgrade to 10.04. Please note that 'top' shows nearly 100% CPU use from korganizer.

The same after upgrading to 10.10. Disabling holidays solves the slowness...

The problem did not disappear for me. It even worsened with the update maverick -> natty. Kontact and other windows started to misbehave and crash twice.

The bug is triggered by the selection of Settings - Configure Calender - Date and Time - Holiday. I tried US and German as Holiday region. Using them causes a delay of > 6 s for changing the month (in month view) and occationally above behaviour. With (none) as holiday region changing month takes < 1s and the system is stable.

I am suggesting to reopen the bug.

The worsening (misbehaviour/crash/instability) was due to bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/727594 .

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. The problem is fixed upstream and that version is available in Kubuntu also. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 631963 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
