No yellow spark displayed in the icon when new mail in Kmail

Using an uptodate Karmic, amd64 arch.

I have configured Kmail to display messages in the indicator display widget using https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KarmicKoala/ConfigureIndicators. The widget detects correctly that Kmail is running.

When I receive a new mail, the icon of the widget doesn't change (no yellow spark) but when I click on it, I can see that there is indeed a new mail in the Kmail section. This is working with Kopete though, so it may be related to kmail patches for indicators instead of the widget itself ?

I have the same problem with a fresh 64bit install of Kubuntu 9.10 (I haven't tried it with Kopete, but with Kmail it happen exactly the same).

It's been a month with no feedback about this bug, so I subscribed both the Kubuntu bug team and the author of the plasmoid. Sorry if this is the wrong way to get feedback.

Fyi I'm using Kmail in IMAP mode (gmail account).

I created a rather simple patch for this, see attachment.

Tested with KDE 4.3.95.

Thanks for the patch ! I've reassigned to the good package.
It would be nice if somebody could get this one packaged in lucid and karmic-updates or -backports :)

I submitted the patch you provided upstream, and it was well received (see http://reviewboard.kde.org/r/3082). That means the bug will be fixed in the next KDE SC release (4.4.2). Thanks a lot for your work !
