As far as I can see, the konqueror sidebar is based on K3ListView, that is, it still relies on Qt3Support. That's why the expansion works as expected in konqy.
Have no idea on how to push on trolltechs on this.. maybe by reporting the same issue multiple times from different users ? :D
Another option might be to ask someone who is taking care of the qt-copy module. Maybe a patch could be added there...it's quite trivial. But since this is not a critical issue then I suppose that there must be really enough interest.
