knode does not install menu entry

Bug Description

After installing KNode, I should be able to run the application by clicking an icon in the Internet menu. But it isn't there, neither in Ubuntu or in Kubuntu. In Kubuntu, you can't run KNode from katapault either.

I suspect all this could be fixed by installing a .desktop file.

The lack of menu entry is intentional as the idea is that you would use knode from within kontact, this is the same for all components used in kontact

That's a shame, because I don't use kontact.

The catapult issue is separate to the menu policy isn't it?

It's the same root cause, which is that you don't install a .desktop file.

But that makes me think . . . can't you install a .desktop file which makes knode appear in the Internet menu for people running Ubuntu (since they've gone out of their way to install knode), but does not appear for people running Kubuntu (since they're supposed to be using kontact)?

That doesn't seem so trivial... unless Kontact hides the Knode (and other) desktop file when it's installed, or replaces it with an invisible one...

This also leaves out the usecase of launching Knode separately from Kontact while using Kubuntu. I don't like having it integrated, so I launch it distinctly from Kontact. I think removing the .desktop entry was a solution looking for a problem.

Voicing here my impression. I find counterintuitive that a fully fledged application does not install a menu entry, even if it can run integrated within kontact. Why introduce this artificial restriction? I've been using knode stand-alone for a long time.

Not hidden in Intrepid anymore. No promises it stays that way.
