Kontact crashed on startup

I use Kontact and KORganizer with Kubuntu 14.10 and it works. Then I upgraded to Kubuntu 15.04 on this machine and Kontact fails to start the Akonadi backend. I have read that this is because of a MySQL upgrade in the new version of Kubuntu.

I had the same problem. As a workaround I installed mariadb-server-core instead of mysql-server-core.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I installed `akonadi-backend-sqlite` and got it working somewhat. I just had to re-add all the ICS calender files.

Martin: If I understand akonadi right you had to reinstall your calendar files, since the data where to find the actual files (as well as metadata) is stored in the database backend. MariaDB uses the same database files as mysql (at least in this scenario), and thus I didn't need to reimport the data.
