unable to fetch mails from certain IMAP servers after upgrade to kubuntu 14.04

however, as it turns out, it seems to be present in kubuntu 14.04 only, not in 13.10 with PPA packages of KDE 4.13. so it's probably not a problem in KDE SC 4.13, but caused or at least triggered by linked packages in kubuntu 14.04.

to see if this affects you, too, you do not need an account on the server in
question. simply try the "serverinfo" button in the connection settings of
akonadi/kmail:

 - add a new connection (IMAP server)
 - set the mailserver to mail.rz.uni-duesseldorf.de
 - go to the advanced tab and hit the serverinfo button

on our kubuntu 14.04 installations, the info window remians completely empty,
whereas on kubuntu 13.10 with KDE 4.13 it lists server info as expected.
