Bug Description
The Kopete KDE3 menu entry's executable should be changed from kopete -caption "%c" %i %m %u to /usr/bin/kopete -caption "%c" %i %m %u , in order to work right when in the KDE4 desktop.
I've wrote this in my blog, along with other Kubuntu specific problems ( http://
"Since because of the above issue I could not want use Kopete 0.50.80, I had to get the good old Kopete back again, for some strange path reasons, both Kopetes in the menu started kopete-kde4, the menu entrys looked like this:
Kopete (KDE3): kopete -caption "%c" %i %m %u
Kopete (KDE4): /usr/lib/
It`s pretty clear to me why I got Kopete(KDE4) with both menu entries, so I've changed to KDE3 entry from kopete -caption "%c" %i %m %u to /usr/bin/kopete -caption "%c" %i %m %u and the magic was done, I could use the Kopete that I wanted. I think this issue is the Kubuntu distribution's fault, it looks to me that they didn't test KDE4 thoroughly enough, because the original entries work on KDE3."
Kubuntu 8.04 has pretty much ran out of support, and this should not be an issue in versions newer than 8.04 due to the lack of a KDE3 Kopete.
