Bug Description

Hi, since installing hoary (kopete now at 3.4.0-0ubuntu2.1) I have
never been able to get the History plugin to function.

In Settings -> Configure Plugins, I have 'History' enabled,
however there are no logs written
to .kde/share/apps/kopete/logs/XXXProtocol as my other machine on
Debian with KDE 3.3 does.

Furthermore there are no context menu entries for each contact to
'View History'.

Any progress on this? I've just upgraded to breezy and still no logging takes place :(

it works here for me.

try kopete on a fresh unix user first. it is known that kde upgrades sometimes need the application configuration file
in .kde/share/config to be deleted and recreated by the new application.

So if it works on a fresh user, then :
stop kopete
save the file .kde/share/config/kopeterc somewhere else
delete all *kopete* in .kde/share/config
restart kopete and configure it all again

No such luck - creating a new user and configuring just one protocol
caused nothing to be written to .kde/share/apps/kopete/ (the
'History' plugin is enabled)

More immediately, there is still no mention of the 'View History'
functions on the menus.

I've checked and I definately have kopete version 3.4.2-0ubuntu2 :/

OK a mixture of news on this. Once again I removed ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc and
~/.kde/share/apps/kopete and started afresh.

I configured a single protocol, and messaged a friend. No logs were kept.

I went to Settings -> Configure Plugins, noticed that the 'History' Plugin was already enabled.
I DISABLED it, pressed Apply, and ENABLED it again, and pressed Apply, then OK.

Now when I right-click a contact I see the 'View History' context menu item. I closed the
existing any chat windows and reopen them. Now logs *ARE* kept in OK a mixture of news on this.

I shouldn't need to disable + reenable the plugin :)

Also, if I repeat the 'disable/enable' procedure, I get MULTIPLE 'View History' entries on the
context menu, and only one of them actually does anything.

humm nice experiments :)
I think you can open a bug upstream on KDE using Help -> report bug in the kopete main window

Seems to be fixed in kubuntu dapper, kde 3.5.2, kopete 0.11.1

Please reopen this bug if this is not the case on your system.
