flac folder missing when browsing audiocd

Bug Description

With Kubuntu 7.10, the flac folder doesn't show up when browsing audio-cd's using the audiocd kio slave.
I have the following flac packages installed:
flac
libflac++6
libflac8

I also noticed that libflac is not listed in the dependency list of kdemultimedia-kio-plugins.
In Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) libflac (libflac7) is listed as dependency of kdemultimedia-kio-plugins.

Same problem here. The flac tab is also missing from the "AudioCD" settings in kcontrol. Opening that section ("kcmshell audiocd") gives the following error:
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: KLibrary: /usr/lib/kde3/libaudiocd_encoder_flac.so: undefined symbol: create_audiocd_encoders
So it looks like this is a kde bug rather than a problem with flac.

Unfortunately this problem is still present in 8.04.

As Fil mentioned above, the flac tab is missing from the Audio CD settings in kcontrol and the same error mesage comes up when launching kcontrol from a console. Although there hasn't been any follow-up to this bug, I had hoped to see it fixed in Hardy but sadly this wasn't the case.

To me, the ability to rip audio CDs so incredibly easily (I just drag from Konqueror to Amarok) is one of the features that set KDE apart from the other desktops and is indeed one of the things that made me switch from Ubuntu to Kubuntu.

I'm currently in the process of archiving my 1000+ CD collection in flac and would really like to have the ability to rip in flac restored, something that was working just fine in Feisty...

I'm trying the below...

sudo apt-get install build-essential dpkg-dev
sudo apt-get build-dep kdemultimedia-kio-plugins
apt-get source kdemultimedia-kio-plugins
cd kdemultimedia-3.5.9
sudo apt-get install libmusicbrainz-dev liblame-dev libflac-dev
./configure
make
sudo make install

(you may have to reboot)

I got this problem in 7.10 and still got it in 8.04. It's a shame that nothing has happened in nine month, status still incomplete and not assigned to any.
