I confirm. When I try to raise the volume with multimedia button (Genius Comfy KB-21e), the master volume is stuck on 48%. In KMix window this looks like "Master" and "3D Control - Depth" are tied together but "Master" moves 0.5 times slower than "3D Control -Depth"

KMix 2.6.1 (Using KDE 3.5.8)
HH 8.04, 2.6.24-7-generic

Furthermore on my HP 6510b laptop the volume is stuck on 4%. In KMix window the master slider is tied to Mic boost.

Setting status to 'New' since archdrone is having the issue on KDE 3. Please try to reproduce on KDE 4 and reconfirm if necessary.

In current hardy, kmix-kde3 gets started when I hit the the volume button. And
while the OSD now goes to 78%, it does not actually change volume at all.
Sliding the slider in kmix itself does work all the way and changes the
volume.

I confirm this bug on current Kubuntu beta.

When using Logitech EX 100 keyboard, volume actually changes (pcm) but the volume meter that appears is stuck at current volume (shows front channel's volume).

Workaround: change master channel (from tray icon, not sure of the english name) to pcm.

The volume meter should always represent master channel selected.

um, I should have said "The volume meter should always represent the channel keyboard is changing"

I have this problems as well in Kubuntu Intrepid latest beta. When the master volumen is set to PCM, the OSD and volumen (for PCM) works fine. But when i set the master volume to Front (this is happening whatever i use a desktop or a laptop...), the OSD does not move and if i open the KMix window, i see that still is changing the PCM volume and not the Front like it should.

Guys... this still exist in latest Kubuntu intrepid...
Volume does not change when you set the volume master to Front... it continues changing the PCM one, meanwhile the ProgressBar is freezed.

Only work when the master volume is set to PCM, which the progressbar works as well.
