Binary package hint: ksnapshot

KDE 3.5.5

Ksnapshot draws gray lines when taking a screenshot of a region of desktop and taken images result ugly. The lines track the mouse pointer movement.

Confirmed, but mine happened after i upgraded to Feisty Herd5. Edgy doesn't do such things.

it's kdegraphics upstream.

I can confirm this bug for Edgy and Feisty, both with nv and nvidia drivers.

How exactly can the importance of this bug be still "undecided"? After all it renders this great tool completely useless for a large number of possible applications...

I'm changing the Importance to Low since a workaround exists. The kubuntu-konqueror-shortcusts (upstream) is correctly assigned to kde-bugs #143723.
Workaround (quoting Luke from http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143723#c6):
I just noticed that the problem _only_ happens if the rectangle is drawn from top-left to bottom right. If I start at any other corner,
there are no artifacts.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Gutsy Gibbon.
