Bug Description
I detected this behavior when i worked on a photo with GIMP, added an alpha channel and cut off edges. I wanted to look at the product (PNG format) with Gwenview-KDE4 2.1 (KDE Version 4.08). Instead of the expected transparent corners, they are displayed black. The preview provided by Dolphin was correct in spite of that and so was it opened with Firefox 3.
After that i made a test image from scratch, that is a blank, transparent Canvas with a green square drawn on it (with GIMP again). I saved it as PNG as well as GIF and the results were the same: Transparency was turned into black with Gwenview, but it is displayed correctly in Dolphin Preview and Firefox.
I attach the latest test picture.

Confirming. Will send an upstream report if one hasn't been filed already.
