The sidepanel metabar could be really nice. But some very basic behaviors (easy to say while I'm not implementing it ;-) are lacking.
1) In Media:/ and possibly in /Media/ or whatnot at the right mountpoints, highlighting (like with a dragbox or by clicking, if single-click is off) should provide disk usage information, like the meta tab in properties.
2) Highlighting a file with the dragbox, and then selecting it otherwise does not work.

2) Highlighting a file with the dragbox, and then selecting it by clicking (or right-clicking) on it does not bring up info in metabar.
3) Highlighting a file (or files) with the drag box does not bring up info in metabar.
3) It would be nice if I could highlight a group of files (photos for example) and have common options appear in metabar (gwenview or whatnot).
I'm pretty pleased with how Dapper's turning out. Hehe. I just thought someone ought to know this. :-) |

The sidepanel metabar could be really nice. But some very basic behaviors (easy to say while I'm not implementing it ;-) are lacking, and there is at least one UI bug. (#2 makes it impossible to see metadata on an item given the default values for clicking and selecting: single-click to open on, select-on-hover off)

Thanks for your report. I'm confirming this because these features are missing in Kubuntu Feisty/KDE 3.5.6, but I can't reproduce the "bug" parts of your report (#2 and #3) so I think those are fixed.
If you are interested in getting these features implemented, your idea might get more attention and have the possibility of being implemented if you submit a specification for it. First check whether the idea is already registered <https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+specs>, and if so, contact the specification's drafter about your ideas. Otherwise, you can start writing a spec yourself. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications>
It may also be helpful to file these bugs upstream at http://bugs.kde.org
If you do, please link them here. |

There is no metabar at all. Closing bug report as invalid for now.
Should it be reintroduced and this report is still valid, please reopen it.
Thank you. |
