Konqueror ignores the 'show close button in tabs' setting

Konqueror 4.2.2 (kdebase 4.2.2-0ubuntu4) on KUbunty 9.04 Jaunty (amd64)

The setting 'show close button in tabs' is not selected, but Konqueror still shows it. (see attached image) Restarting Konqueror doesn't help.

This bug is not a duplicate of bug #395301. The reporter in the latter says that the close button matches the property setting after konqueror is restarted. That's not the case for me, the close button remains present regardless of restarting the application or rebooting the computer.

Can someone undupe this, please? This bug has nothing to do with #395301.

Hi, I'm the reporter of bug #395301; Yes, I definitely used KDE 4.3rc, and not 4.2.2 - I had no problems in 4.2.2;
So -
1. I'll undupe it - this here has nothing to do with the problem I had in 4.3rc
2. Someone should confirm this bug here - I can't ATM, don't have any Kubuntu with KDE (4.2.2) around.

Jonathan, I'm using Jaunty, so no KDE 4.3, just 4.2.2.

Will do, thanks for the pointer. But it may be a week or two. I've just upgraded to Jaunty and am still trying to make it fully workable for me, so I need to take care of that first.

I upgraded to Karmic and the close button is gone. But, does anyone know how to set the 'show close on hover' that used to be there in 3.5?

I don't believe that option made it to KDE4. :(
But as long as this is fixed...
