encoding-problems with konsole

Several problems occurred while using the konsole delivered with breezy.

- using the default encoding-settings showes trashed characters
  in some shell-output
  => i.e. in vim:
    - correctly entering of german "umlauts" ("ö","ä","ü") is not possible
    - german umlauts are not displayed correctly
- logging in to other systems with ssh, causes also german umlauts
  to be unreadable

=> Changing the settings of the encoding to "iso8859-1" or "iso8859-15"
   solves the problem.
=> Making this setting persistent is not possible, because konsole ignores
   it to save this as a default setting.
=> Adding this setting manually to "~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc" ("EncodingName=ISO 8859-1")
   is ignored while startup of konsole

my breezy-system is up2date and i can still reproduce the bug .
if i can help you in in deepth debugging, please sent instructions

Do these problems also appear on edgy?

On my system typing and reading umlauts is possible with default encoding. Saving and restoring different encodings works to for me.
