Bug Description

Today I upgraded to beta2 to see if the "system:/home"-bug has been fixed!

The bug is still there!

Opening "system:/home" instead of "/home/username" leaves a lot of functions not working!

Trying to open an openoffice-document makes the splash show, but OOo2.0 never opens!

Trying to open an mpg-file with kaffeine makes kaffeine copy the file to a temp-dir! (This is quite annoying with
large files)

Openoffice can't handle URLs. The %U's in the .desktop files need changing to %F's. Any objection to me doing
this doko?

The only thing that seems odd, is that a fix for this wasn't made in beta2!
(Quite a simple fix, isn't it?)

I don't understand the last sentence! (Any objection to me doing this doko?)

doko is the maintainer of OpenOffice in Ubuntu. Since OpenOffice is big and scary I'm checking that this change
is OK with him before I touch it.

This bug is still present in current builds of OpenOffice in Dapper. Except rather than opening a blank OpenOffice, there's no OO window at all when you open a file from a system:/ location.

Note that I'm trying to open a document from a USB hard drive, which by default is given the kio-slave system:/media/sda1.

AFAIU the "system:" URL is not standard, but a KDE invention. why can't
KDE just use "file:"?

I also just get the splash screen, but openoffice never starts.
running kubuntu dapper amd64, latest updates.

This is the same/similar to/part of this bug:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/32159
Also see here:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117395
There the %U ==> %f fix was also proposed. If this is indeed the fix, I think we need to get together a list of all apps with this problem&fix. But since they don't already use %f, wouldn't there be some good reason to use %U?
The other bug also mentioned something about needing to add X-Kde-protocols

I'm going to do some experimenting, but right now I don't even know where these .desktop files are.

I realise this one is older, but I think the other one is more complete.
