Bug Description

Kubuntu Hardy.
Steps to reproduce:
plug in any hotplug media, e.g. an USB stick.
A device icon appears on the Desktop.

When device is mounted, it has just the option "safely remove"
But it is unmounted, it has two options:
"mount" / " savely remove". (sorry, my is German, don't know the English names exactly)

What should be:
If a device is not mounted, you don't need to unmount it.
So:
If device is mounted, hide "mount" item, only show "savely remove"
If device is unmounted, hide "savely remove" item, only show "mount"

The way it is now is useless and just helps KDE to it's rumour or being complicated and redundant.

You changed the source package into "nautilus" - but I was speaking of Kubuntu.
I have no nautilus installed. maybe you mean konqueror.

The Plasma new device notifier replacing the desktop icons in Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) doesn't have this problem. It only shows "Safely removed" when the device is mounted. Thank you for your bug report.

This means that bugs in KDE3 won't get fixed any more?
Because "fixed in Plasma" means that KDE3 stays unmaintained.
I have no problem with that (better - I'd suggest to leave KDE3 and focus completely on KDE4) - but this could be bad for reputation.
Some Users, especially enterprises maybe want to stay with KDE3 until KDE4 is proven to be stable.
And Debian Lenny comes still with KDE3, and e.g. Kubuntu Hardy/KDe3 will be supported until end of 2009.

I just want to ask in general - because then in future I won't file bugs for KDE3 that are already fixed in KDE4.
Or - this bug is NOT fixed, because it is KDE3...

Right, this and other KDE3 bugs most likely won't get fixed. (KDE should release 3.5.10 later this year, and that will be it.)
Kubuntu Intrepid will only offer KDE4. Since this is the case, KDE3 won't be getting any more bugs fixed unless the bugfix qualifies for a Stable Release Update (SRU). See: https://wiki.kubuntu.org/StableReleaseUpdates
