no menu entries in K-menu

Bug Description

There are no menu entries in the K-menu. I moved ~/.kde out of the way, to no avail
and neither update-menus run as root nor user did anything to salvage this. I think I
will just cry.

Very old bug. Reporter: Is there some news on that issue? Have you fixed it? Did you upgrade your system to Dapper?
