kdesu on gutsy hangs

$kdesu kate
from the shell sometimes results in nothing, i'm attaching a strace of the problem.

Is your /usr/bin/kdesu a link to kdesudo ?
And if not, what if you start "kdesudo kate" ?

Also can you copy your /etc/sudoers here please ? ;)

Kdesu is deprectated, If kubuntu-desktop is installed you should have kdesudo(and /usr/bin/kdesu should be a link tu /usr/bin/kdesudo).

I doubt kdesu has been deprectated, kdesu is KDE official su program, while kdesudo is just a kubuntu program.

Anyways if kdesudo has to replace kdesu, it seems obvious kdesudo should depend on the package that contains kdesu and not on kubuntu-desktop.
