Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

KUbuntu Gutsy, 64 bit laptop.

Since the update to kdebase 4.3.5.7-1ubuntu17 on Saturday September 1st. I have had no options in kde logout menu other than 'log out' ie shutdown and reboot are missing. I was told that a fix had been released but I have not yet seen any sign of this on the UK repositories. Is this being addressed at the moment or am I the only one with this defect? There are other bug reports similar to this out there but they are very old and appear to have been fixed at the time so I think this is a new one.

Same problem here, kubuntu gutsy on AMD64. Using KDM, not GDM.

Upgrade to kdebase 4.3.5.7-1ubuntu18 has not cured this problem.

Now added kdebase 4.3.5.7-1ubuntu19 but still no shutdown options.

(also tried kernel 2.6.22-11 to no avail)

As of today my shutdown options have returned. It must have been one of the latest updates that did it although I have no idea which one. Anyway it is working again - thanks!

Mine are still missing after updating today. Tried with a fresh user
account, so it does not seem to be dependent on user settings, and I
tried by running X and startkde manually (no KDM), same problem.

Is this still a problem? I'm fairly sure that this has been fixed, with the recent changes.

Not fixed for me. I updated last night, and tested with a completely
new user account. I'd check for updates right now, but the package
repositories aren't responding..

My shutdown options are still missing after running upgrade and dist-upgrade this morning. This doesn't appear to be just a Gutsy issue, googling it finds other users experiencing the same issue. No amount of fiddling manages to fix it though, I tried editing the kdmrc settings file manually with no joy.

I think I'll live with it for now and just reinstall Gutsy when it comes out of beta.

For me, this issue was related to bug #136598, I managed to fix it by running `sudo aptitude purge xserver-xgl`

Dave, do you still have this problem on Hardy? Were you also running xgl?

I now have this bug in Karmic, installed ubuntu and then installed Kubuntu-desktop on top of it, no shutdown options in the "leave" area, only log out options
