Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

klipper doesn't display it's clipboard history menu (left click) or popup preferences menu (right click) when running in the unity system tray.
It looks as though the top part of the menu dialog appears, but the important bit doesn't render - see attached screenshot

(sorry about this - past attempts to submit a bug haven't gone through like this, I was not that well prepared)

The menu ought to be drawn by Unity, so I doubt it is a problem in klipper... moving bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

 * Is this reproducible?
 * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
 * How do you get the icon in the unity-panel?

 This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Yes - reproduced across multiple users, and multiple systems

> * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?
$ sudo apt-get install klipper && klipper
Then left click or right click on the klipper icon in the system tray

> * How do you get the icon in the unity-panel?
alt+f2 klipper

Some more info after more testing: it's not just affecting unity, it happens in the Gnome (ubuntu-classic) desktop environment also - right clicking brings up a context menu, but for the libindicator-applet instead of for klipper

the issue happens outside of unity so it's not an unity bug, sending back to klipper

Ok, just talked to Aurelien on IRC about this. While we have no immediate guess at what could be broken, he suggested that klipper had a hard time getting ported to statusnotifier, so it might be that they pull some weird stuff in how they use the KStatusNotifierItem class which then breaks menu building.

Therefore please file this bug at bugs.kde.org, so that the Klipper developers can address it themselves. Thanks.
